PREY VENG
OVERVIEW |
| This town is the capital of Prey Veng Province and is located on road No 11 between Neak Luong and Kompong Cham, not really a road that visitors need ever use. It is undoubtedly one of the sleepiest backwaters in Cambodia and most of the population is tucked up in bed by 9pm. Those who want to get away from other tourists may enjoy a visit to Prey Veng, as it offers and alternative route between Phnom Penh and Kompong Cham.
There are a few decaying colonial structures around town, attesting to a once-important center. During most of the year a vast lake marks the western edge of town, but from March to August this evaporates and the local farmers cultivate rice.
