The airline was originally established as Cambodian Air Co., Ltd. On May 7, 1998, with a registered capital of 20 million Cambodian riel (approximately US$6,000). After being granted approval to commence services in August 2000,the airline was required by the Commercial Aviation Department of Cambodia to adopt a new name and was duly rename Siem Reap Airways International Co., Ltd. At the same time ,the airline increased its registered capital to 95 million riel (approximately US$28500). Its capital raised again---this time very substantially,to 10,000 million riel (approximately US$2.6 million) in 2001 to support actual operations.
Siem Reap Airways International is licensed by the Royal Cambodian Government to operate scheduled domestic air transportation services for the general public commercing October 29,2000.
Siem Reap Airways International's close relationship with Bangkok Airways helps coordinate flight schedules with Bangkok Airways' daily flights between Bangkok and both Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. The new airline is able to use the Thailand gateway to expand its services worldwide. The main office of Siem Reap Airways International is located in Siem Reap and is fully equipped to provide all necessary organizational and Customer support.
